This is one of... wait nevermind. It IS the SICKEST event you can ever hope to go to. I was there for the first one when it was a bunch of people who had planned on doing some downhill racing and we all got thrown into a park and had free reign for 3 straight days. It's evolved, it's barely recognizable, it's beyond rad. If this video doesn't make you want to pick up a board, you're a square.

+1 tony hawk point for each instance of sick, rad, board and square.

Shit like this makes me wish I could skate.
As an aside: "Shedding the gnar" is one of my favorite terms ever. I would learn how to skate specifically to be able to use that term more regularly.

The first Kona?? how old are you?????
As far as I'm concerned I've been doing DH for over 12 years now, IGSA races and a couple IDF races too pretty much all around the world.
Worked for Restlessboards for a few years and still skate for them today.
I mostly do downhill though and can barely pop a Ollie haha
Do you still skate?

The first King of Kona event. I was there. It was very impromptu when the King of Clermont race in FL got cancelled.
That's definitely longer than me, I've been into it about 5 years now. I got hardcore into DH back when I started and was racing and traveling for events(go to Guajataka if you ever get the chance).
I do still skate, but not on a competitive level or nearly as often as I should. A few injuries that coincided with me getting into cars more heavily kind of steered me away from it.
That's funny that you mention the ollie thing, I just finally figured out how to ollie into a 50/50 stall on a curb like two days ago.

Do it. It's really not that hard to get into. And way cheaper of a hobby than cars.

Hey maybe we've met :)
Have you ever been to whistler, danger bay or any other west coast event? or maybe some push culture races like I love DH or maybe ACME?
I rarely race anymore but still go and hang out... now that I live in Japan I just free ride with the locals :)
